Body Psychotherapy
Body Psychotherapy’s purpose is to integrate Body, Mind and Spirit and develop the capacity to love and heal. The source of healing comes from within (& with some assistance) healthy functioning is characterised by a balanced flow of energy through our 5 fundamentals of our being: Body, Emotions, Mind, Will and Spirit.
Humans are inherently a psychosomatic being. “The Body / Mind is inseparable” and we utilise the language of the body to heal problems of the mind. Through body focused, subtle & cathartic interventions found in Body Psychotherapy processes we address the destructive characteristics of our mask and lower self which restrict the movement of our authentic self, our physicality, emotionality, and spirituality.
Alexandra’s approach with Body Psychotherapy is methodical, investigative and intuitive to support you to unlock the power of your own divine blueprint to self heal and live a ‘wholistically’ empowered life.
Her philosophy is simple; to transform our health and life we must shift our gaze inward, where we will find the ever-present source of health & healing. But you must choose this, with your whole being & be a willing participant in self-cultivating authentic health, happiness & wholeness that is enduring, in Body, Mind and Spirit / Energetically. Simultaneously, empowering you in handling life’s adversities, including loss, disease, ageing and death.
“To heal and thrive, self-empowerment is key. I’d love to provide for you a unique opportunity where I am a supportive guide; by bringing out your greatest teacher and healer, the one that resides within your own body, mind & spirit.” ~ alexandra.
“A teacher cannot give you the truth. The truth is already in you. You only need to open yourself, body, mind and heart, so that their teachings will penetrate your own seeds of understanding and enlightenment. If you let the words enter you, the soil and the seeds will do the rest of the work.” –
Thich Nhat Hahn
The goal of this work is to increase authenticity, self-knowledge, groundedness, personal empowerment, honest communication, and the experience of living with a deeper sense of embodiment and an open-heart.
The process is both a body-centred transformational modality and for many, a spiritual journey. Body Psychotherapy involves physical expressions that deepen the client’s contact with their own life-force and deeper levels of feelings through the opening of areas of blocked/or held energy in the body and opens the client to a fuller experience of their emotional truth.
“The natural healing force within each of us is the greatest force in getting well.” - Hippocrates
A “body reading” allows me to evaluate the areas of your body where energy is blocked, the areas which are “overcharged” (holding an excess of energy), or “undercharged” (holding too little energy). The body reveals many aspects of your personal history, the issues with which you struggle, as well as you Core. A body reading helps me formulate a plan for our work. You and I will discuss the body reading beforehand so that you can come prepared wearing the” suggested” attire. This is generally ‘active wear’ for both men and women. You need only reveal as much of your body as you feel comfortable. If the suggested attire feels too revealing, we can discuss what you do feel comfortable wearing. You can choose to postpone the body reading or not do one at all. I will honour and respect your boundaries.

Body Psychotherapy bodywork involves the release of feelings from chronically armoured muscles. At times this requires the use of touch, for example, through pressure or massage to a muscle or muscle group. The touch is non-sexual in nature and used to bring awareness to an area - sometimes as support and at other times applied to encourage movement of energy through the energy. Touch may elicit many feelings, all of which I ask you to speak about and bring to the process. It is important for you to discuss any discomfort, physical or emotional that you experience. I will always ask for your permission before I touch you and you are free to say no. I will honour and respect your boundaries.
It is understood that you as the client will hold an intention to follow the suggested activities that have been explained and seem reasonable and acceptable to you. Suggestions as to methods for safely expressing strong feelings, such as punching a pillow, or kicking into a mat may be given. Interventions involving the body will always be with you the client’s permission and safety in mind. You as the client may refuse any intervention at any time.
